Skoda Announces Built-in Umbrella for Citigo, Fabia and Octavia Cars
Skoda has announced that the standard-fit umbrella found on higher-spec Superbs will soon be offered on other Skoda models, including the Octavia and Citigo.
The umbrellas, which were an industry first when they were introduced on the original Superb in 2001, are currently only offered on top-of-the-range versions of Skoda’s flagship saloon, but that will be extended to include high-end versions of the Citigo and Fabia from August 8.
At the same time, the umbrella will also become available for Octavia customers, but it will be a £25 option for SE models and above.
Unlike the Superb, though, which stores the umbrella in a special pocket in the door, the smaller vehicles will store their umbrellas in ventilated trays under the seats.
The umbrellas themselves will also have an anti-bacterial coating to help prevent them becoming mouldy.
A Skoda statement read: “It’s not just pop star Rihanna offering the great British public the opportunity to ‘stand under my umbrella’ – now Skoda is extending that generosity!
“The news is certain to be welcomed by British motorists, who, on average, experience 133 days of rainfall every year and can expect to be drenched by 885mm of rain, hail, sleet and snow during an average year.”
