New Suzuki’s latest SX4 S-Cross to Arrive in October
Suzuki’s latest SX4 S-Cross will arrive in the UK on October 17 bearing a £14,999 starting price. The facelifted crossover improves on its predecessor with a new grille, a fresh interior and increased ground clearance.
Standard equipment includes a five-speed manual gearbox, 16-inch alloy wheels and air conditioning, as well as Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control and digital radio.
Moving up to the mid-range SZ-T variant costs an extra £4,500, but adds satellite navigation, a rear parking camera and two-zone climate control to the specification. A leather-trimmed steering wheel, keyless start and automatic lights and wipers are also included.
There’s a choice of engines, too, with the 1.0-litre BoosterJet supplemented by a 1.6-litre diesel engine. It’s the same basic unit as the old diesel, and it returns 68.8mpg and 106g/km CO2 emissions.
The SZ-T model also allows customers to specify the BoosterJet with a six-speed automatic gearbox or, if they stick with the five-speed manual, the AllGrip four-wheel-drive system.
Four-wheel drive comes as standard, however, on the top-of-the-range SZ5 model. Priced from £22,849, it is offered with the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine from the Vitara S and the aforementioned 1.6-litre diesel.
The 1.4-litre powerplant boasts 138bhp and 50.4mpg economy, as well as 127g/km CO2 emissions, although swapping the standard six-speed manual gearbox for the optional six-speed automatic does impact these figures very slightly – the automatic achieves 49.5mpg and 128g/km emissions.
In addition to the more potent engine, SZ5 cars get leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, heated seats and adaptive cruise control, plus all the refinements of the more modest SZ-T.
