New Car Sales up 10% in April
Sean Kemple, director of sales at Close Brothers Motor Finance, describes a 10.4% rise in car sales during April as “a breath of fresh air for the industry”.
“However, last April saw a significant dip following a booming March, and as such the year on year increase should be taken with a pinch of salt,” he says. “We can’t ignore the broader sector struggles and the anticipated turbulence as we begin the countdown to Brexit.”
Mr Kemple adds: “Dealers should not lose hope. They must continue to focus their attention on customer buying behaviour, particularly as cynicism towards diesel continues to grow and today seeing another drop in diesel sales of 25%.”
